B&B Hotel Tres Cantos
Grupo Casais Introduces Eco-Friendly Construction to Spain with Over 60% Carbon Reduction
Grupo Casais is bringing a pioneering environmentally friendly construction approach to Spain, capable of reducing the carbon footprint by more than 60%. This milestone is achieved through the use of engineered timber and by utilizing only one-third of the concrete typically required in conventional buildings.
The city of Tres Cantos, Madrid, will host Spain’s first industrialized hybrid timber-concrete building with the construction of a new B&B hotel. This project, part of the Sunny Casais partnership, introduces a new generation of sustainable buildings to the region, building on successful implementations already realized in Guimarães, Portugal.
Developed in collaboration with ACR, the project is based on the CREE system—an industrialized hybrid construction method that enables rapid on-site implementation. By combining engineered timber and concrete at the structural level with prefabricated modular facades, the system offers a significant reduction in carbon emissions, construction waste, on-site noise pollution, and project delivery times.
Rooted in a philosophy of “Design for Change,” Casais is delivering a suite of solutions tailored for sustainable industrial construction. These solutions reflect a holistic approach that balances productivity, people, and the planet, marking a key step forward in the transition to greener building practices.
