In Ravensburg, CREE Buildings and Peikko combined their strengths to deliver a timber-hybrid building meeting the highest standards of speed, precision and architectural quality. By integrating Peikko’s Composite Beam technology into the CREE System, the project achieved a streamlined construction process that reduced on-site complexity and showcased the potential of structural solutions for modular, scalable and high-performance buildings.
A partnership advancing timber-hybrid construction
The Ravensburg project is a prime example of how CREE Buildings and Peikko are advancing timber-hybrid construction to meet the demands of modern building. As a Product & Services Partner in CREE’s global partner network, Peikko brings proven expertise in slim floor structures and connection technology. Since joining forces in 2024, both companies have been committed to moving the industry from cast-in-situ to high-quality, modular systems that can be scaled across markets.
In Ravensburg, this collaboration focused on an innovative application of Composite Beams which delivered speed, precision and outstanding structural performance.
Structural solutions at the core of the project
Four key Peikko solutions formed the backbone of the project. The DELTABEAM® Composite Beam is fully compatible with the CREE Slab System and enabled realizing the slab as slim floor without visible beams, accelerating the build while meeting high architectural standards. The ATLANT® Composite Columns transferring high loads with small cross-sectioning, resulting in slender columns that meet highest aesthetic requirements. PCs® Corbels connected beams seamlessly to the reinforced concrete core and optimized workflows both in the precast factory and on site. MODIX® Rebar Couplers together with STUDIX® Headed Connectors ensured secure force transfer between slab elements and beams. All components met R90 fire resistance without additional coating, saving time during construction and reducing maintenance needs over the building’s lifetime.
An innovative approach with clear advantages
A defining feature of the Ravensburg project was the use of Peikko’s Composite Beams, which are designed to be filled with concrete directly on site. reduced transport requirements and allowed all beams to be delivered in a single truck. It also removed the need for special lifting equipment. Lighter beams were easier to position on ATLANT® Columns and PCs® Corbels, provided generous tolerances and simplified the installation of STUDIX® connectors. With standardized and compatible elements, the entire system supported faster detailing, smoother assembly and CREE’s principle of industrialized precision.
Overcoming challenges and delivering success
One of the project’s main technical challenges was transferring high in-plane forces in the slab. Peikko’s high-capacity MODIX® Couplers and STUDIX® Connectors ensured the necessary diaphragm action. The result was a safe, efficient and high-quality structure built in less time.
Ravensburg stands as proof of how Peikko’s advanced structural solutions integrate seamlessly into CREE’s timber-hybrid systems. It sets a benchmark for scalable and sustainable construction worldwide.
