The Residência Universitária da Confiança is a landmark student housing development in Braga that transforms the historic Fábrica Confiança soap factory into a modern, sustainable residence. The project will provide around 750–876 beds to meet the city’s growing demand for student accommodation and is part of Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), with a total investment of approximately €25.5 million.
Led by Grupo Casais and built using the CREE timber-hybrid construction system, the project combines industrialized off-site manufacturing with sustainable design principles. The complete 18,000 m² building is planned to be completed within 400 days, with completion targeted for 2026. This project represents a key example of adaptive reuse and urban regeneration, preserving Braga’s industrial heritage while creating a future-oriented residential space for students.
